Elevated Tropospheric Ozone Concentration Alters Soil CO2 Emission: A Meta-Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Elevated tropospheric ozone (O3) concentration may substantially influence the below-ground processes of terrestrial ecosystems. Nevertheless, a comprehensive and quantitative understanding O3 impacts on soil CO2 emission remains elusive, making future sources or sinks C uncertain. In this study, 77 pairs observations (i.e., elevated treatment versus control) extracted from 16 peer-reviewed studies were synthesized using meta-analysis. The results depicted that efflux was significantly reduced under short-term exposure (≤1 year, p < 0.05), while it increased extended duration (>1 0.05). Particularly, stimulated in nonagricultural ecosystems, free-air enrichment (FACE) experiment, soils lower pH. effect sizes positively correlated with experimental negatively pH, respectively. would be enhanced at warm temperatures high precipitation. fundamental factor analyzing emission.

Statistical Analysis of Tropospheric Ozone Concentration
This paper analyzes ozone monitoring data obtained from 50 European stations operated by the Co-operative Programme for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Long Range Transmission of Air Pollutants in Europe (EMEP) and two stations maintained by the Austrian Environmental Agency. Data used in the analyses covered the summer period of the year 1990. The analysis explores first time series of ozone ...

The ‘Black Saturday’ fires were a series of devastating forest fires that burned across Victoria, Australia, during February and March of 2009. In this study we have used satellite data made publically available by NASA from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) and the Atmospheric InfraRed Sounder (AIRS) to track the smoke plume from the Black Saturday firestorm and explore the chemical aging ...
متن کاملRice production in a changing climate: a meta-analysis of responses to elevated carbon dioxide and elevated ozone concentration
Rice is arguably the most important food source on the planet and is consumed by over half of the world’s population. Considerable increases in yield are required over this century to continue feeding the world’s growing population. This meta-analysis synthesizes the research to date on rice responses to two elements of global change, rising atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration ([CO2]) and ...
متن کاملElevated ozone alters soybean-virus interaction.
Increasing concentrations of ozone (O(3)) in the troposphere affect many organisms and their interactions with each other. To analyze the changes in a plant-pathogen interaction, soybean plants were infected with Soybean mosaic virus (SMV) while they were fumigated with O(3). In otherwise natural field conditions, elevated O(3) treatment slowed systemic infection and disease development by indu...

Abstract: Clean air is a necessity for human well-being and health. Air pollution is a major threat to humans and other organisms and is considered as one of the environmental challenges. Today, with the increase in air pollution, the need to know more about the causes of its occurrence has been raised. The various consequences of air pollution have made air quality monitoring and control inev...
